Metal fest gets second outing...
The Mustaine/Megadeth let touring festival of extreme metal is given a second outing here, a nirvana for all thrash fans and more.
Opening with Smashup's 'The Effigy' and Sanctity's 'Beneath The Machine' you are instantaneously bombarded with riffs, banging heads, tattoos, the works.
Into Eternity open with few mainstream metal riffs before kicking off into the real extreme noise. Some good bass work, spoilt by some ‘farting through a drainpipe' vocals.
More classic thrash with Overkill's 'Necroshine'. Blistering and earsplitting, as is 'Rotten To The Core'.
Arch Enemy, Opeth and Lamb Of God all continue in similar fashion, so a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Megadeth kick off with 'Take No Prisoners', and also feature 'The Scorpion' and 'Washington Is Next'. Mustaine's crew clearly the best and most polished unit here.
With between 1 and 3 tracks each, this is a mere sampler, a short running time, although there are many backstage extras. Is it intentionally short to tempt you to attend the next show? Perhaps.
A tracklist and more info on the sleeve would be nice too.
A good mix anyway.
