MAN RAZE Surreal VH1 Classic Records (2008)
Formed in 2004 by Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, Girl bassist Simon Laffy and Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook, Man Raze are about to release their debut album 'Surreal', and album mixing raw and simple, fast paced mid 80's style with heavy pop/rock riffs.
Several of the tracks on 'Surreal' could easily have fitted nicely on Def Leppard's recent 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' album and you will not be surprised to find plenty of Leppard style guitars amongst the 12 tracks here.
Highlights include opening track 'This Is', the reggae inspired 'Runnin' Me Up', first single 'Skin Crawl' (complete with Marilyn Manson sounding opening lines!!) and 'Every Second of Every Day'.
There are also moments that are reminiscent of The Police ('Can't Find My Own Way'), 'Spinning Out' has a very Bowie like opening and 'Turn It Up' has a great early ‘80's feel to it.
Fans of not only Def Leppard are going to like this CD, as it will definitely appeal to anyone who likes The Police and solid pop/rock in general. I have been lucky enough to see the band live and would highly recommend it.
