JOHN FOGERTY Royal Albert Hall, London 23 June 2008
What a disappointment - after his great performance at Wembley last year when he
stormed through great songs non-stop I was expecting a lot at the Royal Albert
Hall but it was an ersatz performance spoilt completely by the fact that it was
recorded for a DVD.
The set was lame, the 'jokes' and comments incredibly showbiz and corny and too
many songs for 'lets do something different for the DVD sales'.
There was a 30 minute break after 30 minutes so John could change his makeup for
the DVD - any momentum building up was lost - the DVD film guys were prancing
round the stage all night.
John, if you want to make money then don't do it by charging fans full
price (it cost £85 for 2 tickets) so they can see you perform averagely
and help you make a DVD for sale.
The DVD guys desperately went round inviting selected members of the audience to
go to the front and act excited for 2 hours so the DVD looks good! - they even
asked 'do you know the words to CCR songs/'!!)
There
were lots of negative comments from the audience all saying the Wembley and
Glastonbury performances were great but this was really poor. What a shame!
