JADED SUN Gypsy Trip Sian Records (2008)
Jaded Sun are an Irish blues rock based band who have enlisted Richie Mouser (Dream Theater/Weezer) as producer. Like The Answer and Glyder they are steeped in classic rock influences but also keep their own identity.
'Breaking Through' smashes through your speakers like the offspring of the Cult and Free, a real foot stomping tune but wait it gets better as 'Crazyman' goes all southern rock in the fine tradition of Lynyrd Skynyrd (listen to 'Hey You!' for more Skynyrd style music).
Another band Jaded Sun remind you off is Thunder and songs like 'Can't Stop' and the sing-a-long chorus of 'Higher' are as good as anything of Thunder's debut album. The overall sound on the album is one of good time rock 'n' roll with a big, clear drum sound (some lovely percussion touches like on 'Crave') and piano added here and there to fill out some songs.
As for the guitars, well let's just say the slide and solos will please the most demanding air guitar fan.
Jaded Sun have produced a stunning debut album and along with bands like The Answer and Glyder prove that you can add a modern twist to classic rock sounds of the 70's. Like Thunder's immense debut 'Backstreet Symphony', this is an album of top notch blues based hard rock - turn it up and enjoy!
