JACK BRUCE/ROBIN TROWER Seven Moons Evangeline (2008)
Surely Jack Bruce and Robin Trower are two of the greatest names in classic rock? This new collaborative album is a wonderfully composed, bluesy and soulful 11 track opus.
Bruce has aged, notably, but with age, so they say, comes wisdom and his voice carries lots of different stories which comes across quite remarkably here. There are hints of his former band Cream with songs like 'Lives Of Clay' where Trower's guitar prowess is on full display.
Bruce's trademark thumping but melodic bass lines ripples right through the album but with steady progression and delicacy. Joining them is Gary Husband on drums.
This is an excellent release, which will be of interest to anybody interested in British blues and classic rock in general. Recommended.
