ERIC BIBB Get Onboard Telrac Blues (2008)
This album is a lovely, relaxing listen encompassing blues, soul and a little gospel. Eric Bibb has a subtle guitar style - nothing too heavy or flashy, coupled with a very rich, melodious vocal.
The lyrics are on the whole very uplifting, with a religious slant on many. 'Spirit I Am' and the tile track are upbeat songs and as rocky as it gets.
Bonnie Rait pops up to add slide guitar to 'If Our Hearts Ain't In It'. 'New Beale Street Blues' is lovely slow blues number and a great story in the lyric as well. Ruthie Foster duets with Bibb on 'Conversation', again another strong story lyric about a woman needing to see her man more! 'Stayed On Freedom' closes the album with a flourish as Bibb does his interpretation of a traditional Civil Rights song.
Excellent production vales couple with strong songs make for a rewarding listen from a very accomplished artist.
