ELECTRIC MARY Down To The Bone Bad Reputation (2008)
Another quality release from the Bad Reputation roster of artists!! Melbourne based band Electric Mary were formed by singer/songwriter Rusty who, along with guitarist Irwin Thomas have created a band who’s sound takes elements from a number of classic influences and blends them into new album 'Down To The Bone'.
The band gained their name on an inspirational trip to New York and a chance visit to the renowned Electric Ladyland studios, a place where many of their influences have recorded albums over the last 30 or so years- the managers name happens to be Mary and her business card contained the email address 'electricmary@…..', the name stuck from there on in.
The album contains 11 tracks of blues driven rock with hints of AC/DC, American Dog, Velvet Revolver (especially on 'Busted') and at times grooves in a Lenny Kravitz style way ('Luv Me' is a prime example), other highlights include ''No One Does It Better Than Me', 'One In A Million', 'Sorry' and the slower 'Crashdown'.
The band already count David Coverdale and Iron Maidens Adrian Smith amongst their fans and it can only be a matter of time before they win over everyone else.
