EDENBRIDGE My Earth Dream Napalm Records (2008)
Edenbridge are undoubtedly one of the best symphonic metal bands around and also one of the more interesting female fronted metal bands. 'My Earth Dream's is not strictly a concept album but it does have a central theme: the album endeavours to explore the planet earth as a subject, to question it and to think about its relationship with us as human beings. Do we have a spiritual connection to our planet? Interesting!
The opening track 'The Force Within' starts with a huge orchestration like some John Williams soundtrack before the band kick into action. Singer Sabine Edelsbacher is a brilliant talent and should be as well known as her peers but for some reason isn't. The album cannot be played randomly; each song has to continue on from each other as intended. The closing song 'My Earth Dream' is divided into six parts and is an epic 12 minute opus.
This is another terrific album courtesy of this innovative and talented Austrian band. And yet again they prove that they have more ideas to explore.
