CHRIS CATENA Discovery Escape Music (2008)
Vocalist Chris Catena returns (Moonstone Project/Vitalij Kuprij) returns with a new album with a concept album based on space and alien discovery.
Like his last solo album 'Freak Out' the music has a big funk/hard rock vibe with songs like 'New Dimension' and 'Freedom Bound' very much in the style of latter day Glenn Hughes.
Toto's Bobby Kimball lends a hand on 'The Chosen One' - a definite album highlight - and the Toto vocalist is as ever on top form. The album closer 'Comin' Home' is also a cracking number with strings and a big epic ballad feel - a great way to close the album.
Plenty of top musical guests including Earl Slick, Pat Travers, Carmine Appice, Bruce Kulick, Tony Franklin, Timothy Drury and Uriah Duffy of Whitesnake and Tommy Denander to name but a few.
Overall the album can sound slightly disjointed as the short instrumental pieces can at times interrupt the overall musical flow of the album. If you enjoyed his last album they certainly grab a copy of this as you will certainly love his new songs.
