ANTHONY GOMES Music Is The Medicine Ruf (2008)
Canadian born blues guitarist is back with his first album since 2002's 'Unity.' He may not be the most prolific player in the blues scene but he certainly works hard on the live circuit, touring regularly around North America.
'Music For Medicine' is a funk-fuelled opus consisting of 12 tracks that confidentially fuse rock, blues, soul and pop. If you like Glenn Hughes' recent albums you'll probably find much of this album to be tasty stuff.
There's plenty of meaty guitar riffs and some cool solos too like the excellent track 'War On War.' Gomes is an excellent player with plenty of charisma and he's also a strong singer. For those of you interested in modern blues with a twist - this is an album to listen to.
