THE POODLES Sweet Trade AFM Records (2007)
The Poodles return with their second album and it is more of the same, namely big melodic rock choruses, big production ballads and the band's nod back to 80's hard rock.
After the sing-a-long opener 'Flesh And Blood' the album does take a slight dip - its not that the songs are bad they just lack that killer riff or chorus. But luckily they are back on track by the fourth song 'Walk The Line' and 'Thunderball' which is a classic hard rock tune.
Reach The Sky' has a catchy as f*** chorus, whilst 'We Are One' is one of those songs with a stirring chorus and glorious melodic guitar riffs. 'Without You' is up there with the best 80's power ballads and highlights the band's passion to create well produced and memorable songs.
Not quite up there with their debut album but still a damn fine album and one for all lovers of melodic hard rock. Hopefully the band will get over to the UK soon to play some gigs as live I am sure they would be awesome.
