ROBERT CRAY Live At the BBC Universal (2007)
Taken from two live BBC recordings back in 1988 and 1991 this is a real treat for fans of Robert Cray's music, taken from arguably his most successful period to date.
Of late Cray has followed a more soulful musical direction but these live shows highlight his blues side, albeit the slow burning blues playing.
Stand outs include 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark', the wonderful 'These Things' and 'The Forecast (Calls For Pain)'. Cray has a very slow, mellow style of playing with a voice which appeals not only to blues fans but crosses over to gain him mainstream success as well.
Definite purchase for his fans and a good starting point of you are new to his music, as live is where the blues really comes alive.
