QUANGO Live In the Hood The Store For Music (2007)
Quango was the short lived band formed by former Asia members John Wetton and Carl Palmer after their attempts to reform Asia failed to materialize. Joining these two were guitarist Dave Kilminster (John Wetton) and John Young (Asia/Greenslade/Bonnie Tyler et al) on keyboards/vocals. This CD has been out before and was recorded at the Robin Hood and the Brook.
The set list mixed ELP numbers - 'Fanfare For The Common Man' and 'Hoedown' - with Asia numbers - 'Time Again' and 'Heat Of The Moment' plus a John Young penned song, 'The Last One Home'. There is even a cover of Bob Dylan's 'All Along The Watchtower'. As you'd expect given the pedigree of the musicians in the line-up the music is spot on with the sound of good standard most of the time (Carl Palmer's drums do get very high in the mix at times to drown out all but he vocals!).
One for Asia and ELP fans, although some sleeve notes would have been a nice bonus. Shame this line-up never got to record together as they would have produced some interesting music I am sure.
