POWDERFINGER Dream Days At The Hotel Existence Universal (2007)
Amazingly the band's sixth album and in their homeland Australia this album has already been a hit and down for various music awards. They are very good at crafting lush melodies with a nice emphasis on guitar and vocal interplay. The single 'Lost And Running' is strangely not the most instant song on here, that goes to 'I Don't Remember' which sounds like what REM should be doing now.
The band are very good at the ballads, listen to 'Wishing On The Same Moon' or 'Ballad Of a Dead Man' for proof and these blow bands like Snow Patrol out of the water.
Like Dashboard Confessional, Powderfinger come up with strong melodic tunes and have a large fan following but many music fans have never heard of them! Do yourself a favour and if you enjoy bands like REM, Snow Patrol, Dashboard Confessional et al I'd be very surprised if you didn't love this album after a few spins.
