PINK FLOYD The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn EMI (2007)
Released to celebrate 40 years since the original release of this album, the band's debut and the only studio album to feature Syd Barrett. There are two versions out there, this one is the album in both mono and stereo on separate discs and then there is a three disc set which adds the singles and alternate versions.
If you have never heard this album then this is a classic piece of 60's psychedelic music and you can't help but wonder how the heck they produced such weird and wonderful music like the trance like 'Interstellar Overdrive', 'The Gnome' or 'Astronomy Domine'.
Barrett's influence looms large throughout the music and he could write classic pieces of whimsy such as 'Bike'.
A definite classic, although it bears no relation to the band's music of the 70's and Gilmour fronted 80's/90's line-up but then that's the beauty of the music of Pink Floyd, always progressing and enjoyable.
