LION'S SHARE Emotional Coma AFM Records (2007)
By heck this one rocks like a mutha! Mind you with the powerful vocals of Patrick Johansson (Astral Doors/Wuthering Heights) on board you know it is going to be an album full of Dioesque vocals and metal.
This album is just a rollercoaster ride of classic riff based metal be it 'The Arsonist' (very Metal Church sounding in the guitars) or the frantic metal of the title track which features Megadeth's Glen Drover.
Another guest is former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, who adds his six string solos to 'The Edge of the Razor'. There is even a cover version in the shape of Angel Witch's 'Sorcerers'. Lars Chriss really whips up a storm on his guitar, switching from metal riffs to solos with ease and just garb a listen to the guitars on 'Cult Of Denial', awesome.
Well played, produced and with an emphasis on melody modern metal albums with a classic metal touch don't get much better than this. Fans of Dio in particular should check this album out pronto.
