LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM Saturn Skyline Escape Music (2007)
The band return with their fourth album is as many years and the first time with the same line-up over two albums.
The Talisman rhythm section of Jamie Borger and Marcel Jacobs remains in place, whilst former Fates Warning guitarist Andy Malecek really gets more freedom solo as can be heard on 'I Know A Lot About Love' and 'Rock 'n' Roll s Saving My Soul', very tasty solos indeed.
Despite recycling FM song titles ('American Girl' and 'Frozen Heart') this is another well played and catchy slice of melodic rock. Check out the harmony filled 'Supersonic', in fact this could easily be a hit if covered by a pop band like Take That (that is no disrespect to this band but they are not likely to get airplay like say Take That would!).
'Pages' rocks out nicely, including a quick snatch of Slade's 'We'll Bring the House Down'. They go all Queen like in the layered vocals on the album closer 'Still On The Run', a real grandiose number to end with.
Bar the band's rather lacklustre second album everything they release is superb and the vocals of Mikael Erlandsson lift these releases above similar bands. Be great if they could do some live shows on the back of this release. An essential purchase for all lovers of melodic rock.
