Kyrbgrinder (obviously not a fluffy AOR band with this name!) are the brainchild of Threshold's drummer Johanne James, who as well as handling drums steps up to the mic on here.
The band is rounded out by guitarist Dave Dart and bass player Eddie Vendetta. Johanne has a very melodic voice, not at all unlike King's X vocalist Dug Pinnick. In fact tunes like 'Defiance' and 'My Heart Bleeds' could easily have come from a King's X album.
A few curve balls in here as well with the semi-rap metal of 'Not In My Name' and 'Greatest Weapon' which pummels and soothes in equal measures.
The only real downside to the album is the lack of a couple of real standout tracks to raise the album into a 'must have'.
A solid metal album but Threshold fans beware as it is not like them as there are no keyboards and the sound is much more drum/guitar driven.
