DIMENSION X Implications Of A Genetic Defense Unicorn Records (2007)
This CD will definitely appeal to fans of Queensryche and lovers of well crafted prog metal albums.
Like the best prog metal albums it is a concept and is best digested in one sitting to get the full flow and story (the band cleverly link each song with fictional news items to link each piece of music). A brave move by the band is having their epic song, ‘Justification' as the third track in (many bands like to keep their epic tracks until the tail end of the album).
Clocking in at over 13 minutes it features a myriad of musical styles and a very deep, menacing bass line in one section. Vocalist Dave Hoover II really does have a strong, powerful voice which he needs to match the heavy arrangements used by the band. The story line deals with genetics, free will and religion but I will leave it you the listener to enjoy it all as the whole concept holds together very well.
Don't miss out on this album if you like progressive metal as they are up there with Symphony X and Queensryche and certainly deserve success with the album.
