BENEDICTUM Seasons Of Tragedy Locomotive Music (2007)
Second album by the band fronted by the female Dio sound-alike Veronica Freeman, whose debut 'Uncreation' gained rave reviews back on its release in 2006. This new album carries on where the debut left off with riff laden metal tunes complete with a big chorus and the unmistakable vocals of Veronica Freeman.
Stand out songs are 'Shell Shock', the pounding 'Burn It Out' and a very heavy version of Accept's 'Balls To The Wall' (George Lynch and Jeff Pilson of Dokken fame guest on this one).
Although a song like 'Beast In The Field' are not only clichéd lyrically and outstay their welcome. The title track sees Veronica Freeman drop her heavy vocal and it is surprising how mellow and melodic her voice can sound!
If you liked the band's debut and enjoy no nonsense metal then grab a copy of this CD. Another little bonus is a cover of Rainbow's 'Catch The Rainbow' which features Dio guitarist Craig Goldy.
