AEON SPOKE SPV (2007)
Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal are the driving force behind this band, their previous bands include Death and Cynic. This album is a wonderful collection of songs which tip their hat at times to Muse, Radiohead and Porcupine Tree but never copy these bands.
Picks include 'Cavalry of woe' which hints at Muse before a swopping chorus garbs your attention. 'Grace' sees keyboards, swirling guitars and melodic vocals all blend into one glorious mix. But the real stand out song (and a sure fire airplay hit) is 'Sand And Foam', with a neat drum motif and a chorus that blows Muse out of the water.
This is an album to enjoy over and over again and one that is both modern and retains a good sense of melody throughout.
