ACTION Frontiers (2007)
The origins of this band date back to the late 80's and that gives a clue to their sound, namely big hook laden hard rock tunes with the odd ballad thrown in for good measure.
Listening to 'Without Your Love', 'Someday' or 'Heaven Tonight' and you have classy hard rock tunes with harmony filled choruses, a strong lead vocal from Jack Marques and the requisite guitar solos dotted around the songs. Granted it is nothing new but with a modern production Action have taken the late 80's hard rock sound and bought it into the 21st century, just like Mass and Norway have done this year as well with similar success.
'Here In My Heart' could have come of a Mitch Malloy album and 'Loveless' hints at Warrant but without the cheesy lyrics! The ballads if anything are the songs you tend to forget as Action seem much more adept at penning hard rock tunes.
Very enjoyable melodic hard rock that is certainly worth getting along with the aforementioned Mass and Norway albums as well.
