TISHAMINGO Wear N' TearMagnatude (2005)
Tishamingo come from the US and play that timeless style of laid back
southern rock meets country. This is a very enjoyable album with some stand
out tracks like ‘Hillbilly Wine’, which could easily be off a Widespread
Panic album - a classic tune with some neat, drawling guitar playing.
Skynyrd’s ‘Poison Whiskey’ gets a run through and is a touch more laid back
than the original version. Tracks like ‘Magic’ almost veer of into jazz-rock
at times, whilst ‘Smoked Mullet’ brings the pace back into the album.
The guitar playing and organ/piano parts are a particular delight and the only
slight downside is the occasional forays into jazzier playing - not my cup
of tea I am afraid.
If you enjoy classy rock music and especially Widespread Panic then grab
this album as you won’t be disappointed.
