THE RASMUS Hellofacollection Warners (2005)
The Rasmus have of course enjoyed enormous chart success with their last
two singles and latest album by tapping into that the lucrative teen market.
No wonder, then, that this early years compilation gets a release charting the
band’s musical output since forming back in 1995.
It is a mixed bag and nothing quite so catchy as the latter day material although ‘City Of The
Dead’ is the closest to a chart single on here. Elsewhere they dabble in a
bit of ska, lots of modern alternative rock and a truly awful track called
‘Funky Jam’. Bizarre track has to be the band’s cover of ‘Ghostbusters’,
produced by the original artist Ray Parker Jnr.
Overall an album that shows the band trying to find a sound and as a
result you get a mixed bag of tunes and quality. Not essential by any means
but I am sure their many fans will enjoy some, if not all, of the music on
offer here.
