TERRA NOVA Best Of + 5 Frontiers(2005)
Following on from the excellent ‘Escape’ album released earlier this year on Frontiers, this ‘best of’ rounds up their career to date nicely with five previously unreleased tracks from the time the ‘Break away’ album was recorded.
Taking the five unreleased tracks first pick of the bunch are the hard rocking ‘I Wanna Know’ – big guitar riff and the band’s trademark harmony vocals and ‘Holy Water’. The other tracks are okay but don’t really warrant repeat plays.
As for the other tracks on here let’s just say if you love Scandinavian melodic rock meets AOR you will love them! The harmonies on ‘Livin’ It Up’ and ‘Break Away’ are awesome, with the chorus of ‘I am love sick over you’ on ‘Love Sick’ raising a smile. The band are very good at mixing driving keys and guitars into a very tuneful mix.
Classic feel good melodic rock with more hooks than a fishing contest! Fans of Treat, Skagarack (wish someone would release their output properly on CD) and 80’s Europe will enjoy this collection.
