TARA’S SECRET '2-track promo' (2004)
There seems to be a revival in British melodic rock at the moment with
veterans like Pride and Lost Weekend being joined by Sacred Heart and now
this Staffordshire based (great county by the way especially as it is my
home one!) band who quote REO Speedwagon and Journey as musical signposts.
Two tracks on here from their debut album ‘Spectrum Wheel’. The first being
a ballad ‘She Wears A Rainbow’, which touches the country rock of Poco
or the Eagles. Very good it is too. ‘Venice of the North’ sees tempo rise
and it’s great track with time changes and melodic vocals. Prog rock and
Magnum fans will enjoy this track. Unusual choice of subject though in the
British fishing industry!
Two very accomplished tracks and certainly leaves you wanting to hear the
full album. Good to see another UK band carrying on the melodic rock
traditions of FM, Magnum, Strangeways et al.
