SIMPLY RED Stars Eagle Rock EREDV435 (2005)
|
The ginger one with stars in his eyes...
Simply Red are one of the UK's most successful acts of the late 80’s/early
90’s and this DVD charts every aspect of their multi platinum 'Stars'
album. Released in 1991 it topped the UK album charts for an astonishing 19
weeks and went on to become the biggest selling album of 1991 in the UK
(not bad when you consider it was up against GnR’s 'Use Your Illusion' and
U2’s 'Achtung Baby'!!).
As with other DVDs in this series you get to see and hear the stories
behind the writing, recording and the songs themselves. Frontman Mick
Hucknell talks in depth about not only this but the general state of the
band at the time; interviews with the other band members, manager and
producers are also an insight to this time in the band's history.
Bonus features include piano and vocal renditions of both 'For Your Babies'
and 'Wonderland' and Mick discussing his pre Simply Red musical activities
and interviews with the band on joining Simply Red.
Like them or not, this DVD is a fascinating insight into the world of Simply
Red.
