SILVERLAND Swimming Upstream Amazon Records (2004)
Four piece band with their debut album and one that will appeal to fans
of high quality rock with a big acoustic slant to the music. Vocalist Sam
Jones is a find as he a very melodious vocal and can match the quieter
moments and those when the guitars are turned up.
Take ‘Been There’ which switches from mellow acoustic to crashing guitars by the chorus. Fans of
David Gray would appreciate Silverland with their well crafted and written
tunes like ‘Atlantic’ and ‘Undriven’.
Very promising debut album that will please lovers of quality music. It
doesn’t sit easily in any genre and many songs on here, like for instance
‘Get Out’, could easily gain airplay on mainstream radio.
