THE SEWERGROOVES Constant Reminder Wild Kingdom(2004)
Apparently this is the band’s fourth album but not a band I’ve heard of
before. If garage rock/no frills rock is your thing then Sewergrooves will
appeal - Jet was the band I had in my mind whilst listening to this album.
It has a very retro feel - ‘Demon In My Head’ could easily be a lost 60’s
track with its ‘echo’ sound. In fact traces of the Who can be heard in the
songs such as ‘Down On You’. The lack of variety does tire after awhile,
with too many tunes seemingly merging into each other sound wise. Mind you
the fast paced ‘No Thanks To You’ ends the album on a high note.
Not a bad little album and if you like Jet, the Hives et al and a retro
feel then you could do worse than track these guys down.
