SEVEN WISHES Seven Wishes (MTM Music 2005)
The band’s follow-up to 2001’s ‘Utopia’ and it also sees a revised
line-up plus a new label after leaving Z Records back in 2003. Seven Wishes
are one of the few modern bands who play straight ahead, hard rock so
beloved of 80’s acts like Dokken, XYZ, Shark Island etc. That’s not to say
the sound of the album is dated as it features a modern production and
catchy hard rock tunes like ‘Cross My Heart’ that could easily appeal to
fans of bands like Ten or Gotthard.
They aren’t so good at the mellower moments though as the ballad ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ is very ‘heard it all
before’. Guitarist Lennart Karlsson certainly gets a chance to shine, whilst
vocalist Pelle Andersson certainly has the strong vocals needed for a hard
rock outfit.
A solid, if unspectacular album although one that will doubtless delight
their fans and those that enjoy the 80’s hard rock sound.
