ROYAL HUNT 2006 Live Frontiers(2006)

Recorded live in St. Petersburg earlier this year you get over two hours spread over two discs. It also sees the new members getting their chance to shine namely bassist Per Schelander (House of Shakira), drummer Kenneth Olsen and guitarist Marcus Jidell (ex-Jekyll & Hyde), who link in well with vocalist John West and founding member keyboards wizard Andre Andersen.

The set list covers the band's output from their early 90's input up to their latest album 'Paper Blood'.

Highlights include the power metal of 'Can't Let Go', the piano led 'Follow Me' (which gets the crowd all excited!), the glorious 'Surrender' where the harmony backing vocals are spot on and 'Epilogue'.

In vocalist John West the band have a very able front man who works a crowd with ease and has that classic rock vocal possessed by your David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Jorn Lande et al.

There is also an accompanying DVD release (this includes 'SK983' but not the CD bonus track 'Long Way Home'), both of which I am sure will be snapped up by the band's many fans.

One of the best power/symphonic bands of all time and this live set keeps things bubbling along nicely until their new studio album.
