RIVERSIDE Second Life Syndrome Escapimusic EMUS20039 (2005)
Second album from this Polish lot, with new keyboard player Michal Tapaj on board.
“After” is an atmospheric opener, gentle, progressive. The prog metal leanings continue with the 8 minute “Volte Face”. Some interesting guitar work interwoven with keyboards. A little meandering at times but good all the same.
“Conceiving You” is more piano oriented. Even when the drums and guitar come in, the piano’s there in almost classical fashion keeping the pace.
The title track is a 15 minute epic. Touches of European Metal Does Pink Floyd. Interesting variation of rhythms too.
Not too heavy, but the progressiveness does add an intensity that requires your attention.
