THE REMBRANDTS 'Lost Together' Atenzia ATZ02009 (2003)
Been a long time since the duo of Danny Wilde and Phil Solem put out an
album. Forever known for the theme tune to TV’s ‘Friends’, there is a lot
more to this band and better songs as well! None more so than the opener on
here, ‘Lost Together’ a blissful acoustic number where the vocals of both
band members combine to great effect. Radio airplay beckons for ‘I’m In
Love’, a breezy and laid back song and very catchy to boot! ‘Buddy Jo’ is
another classic slice of pop rock, one for Tom Petty and Nelson fans out
there. The Rembrandts’ rock out on ‘Some Other World’, in a very melodic way
of course! The song has a fast pace and a catchy chorus plus some tasty keys
in the background. The piano led ballad ‘Happiness’ rounds the album of in
style, again highlighting the talent in this band both vocally and
instrumentally.
What a great return! Superb vocals throughout the album and it gets
better with every play. Existing fans of the band will love what’s on offer
here. If you like bands like Nelson, Squeeze - the mellower side of rock, do
yourself a favour and buy this CD now. Plus it is Atenzia who have
already released outstanding albums by A.C.T and Brain McDonald Project this
year, now this album - can they keep this up?
