REFUGEE Affairs In Babylon MTM Classix (2005)
This album first saw the light of day back in the mid-80’s and Refugee
featured amongst its line-up ex-Zon keyboards player Howard Helm and former
Helix drummer Brian Doerner. Musically it is very much of the era being full
of 80’s style synths and not unlike a mellower version of Loverboy.
There are some good tracks on here like the synth heavy ‘Thunder Of Another Night’
(although the song’s main synth riff kept reminding me of fellow 80’s hit
‘Gloria’!). ‘Dream On Anastasia’ is a wonderfully crafted ballad and indeed
much of the album will delight those fans of keyboard led AOR.
Being a MTM Classix release you get bonus material, including ‘We All Go Down To The
River’ that is so good it’s a wonder it never made the original album
release! There is even a live version of Manfred Mann’s ‘Mighty Quinn’ as
well.
Another fine MTM Classix release and one for all collectors/fans of 80’s
AOR.
