PROTO KAW The Wait of Glory Inside Out (2006)
The second album that features ex-Kansas member Kerry Livgren and the musicians who formed the earliest incarnation of Kansas.
In many ways it leaves off where 2004's 'Before Came After' left off, with its sweeping progressive soundscapes and heavy reliance on keyboards and sax/percussion.
There is more of a jazz rock feel to much of the music contained on here, with some long sax/keys/guitar workouts featured on many tracks.
This is not really my musical bag but you can't fault the musicianship and the heartfelt vocals on 'The Vigil' provide a welcome distraction and variety. Stand out track is 'When the Rains Come', bringing to mind early 80's Blue Oyster Cult meets classic era Kansas.
Those who enjoyed the debut will again enjoy this new release but the overtly jazz rock workouts are not for me I am afraid.
