THE POPPYFIELDS ‘45RPM ’
(Snapper Music SMASCD054) (2004)

One track CD single from a new punk pop band based in Chester in the UK. It’s a three-minute riff fest with a catchy chorus and simple melody. It’s not bad but does sound like a lot of other bands of similar ilk out there like Good Charlotte. But at least the Poppyfields have a punk sound/attitude, unlike the ‘punk lite’ bands coming out of the US who think they invented punk rock and whose songs always have ‘funny’ videos attached to them.

Not a bad single then, making you want to find out more about the band. One to keep an eye on...

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
