PETE SCHMIDT ‘No Safe Bet’ www.peteschmidtmusic.com (2005)
A US singer songwriter who could well earn success in the current climate
of bands and artists like David Gray, Keane and Travis. The whole album has
a richly produced sound with the acoustic guitars and drums particularly
clear in the mix.
You could easily pluck any song of here for a single release like the breezy acoustic pop of ‘Dreams’ through to the simply
brilliant ‘All Of Us’ - slap on the headphones for the gentle piano parts.
‘Graduation’ will have all those David Gray fans in spins of delight, whilst
‘Get It Right One Time’ sees the guitar turn electric and it is a track that
will appeal to fans of say Soul Asylum or the Rembrandts.
There are a lot of acoustic based singer/songwriters and bands out there
but Pete Schmidt has that certain ‘something’ - you know, what makes an
artist that bit more special than others.
