OZRIC TENTACLES The Best of (Snapper Music SMACD875(2004)
Amazingly the Ozrics have been going for twenty years now and if you’ve
never sampled their delights this is a good a place as any to start off. A
double CD including the glorious ‘Jurassic Shift’ (features some chiming U2
styled guitar from Ed Wynne), the space rock of ‘Myriapod’ and world music
meets prog rock via jazz on ‘Sunscape’. Excellent headphones music and there
is so much depth in each tune.
The Ozrics are one of the few (possibly the only) bands to successfully attract rock and dance fans to their music. For
fans the only new material on here is the enhanced CD track ‘Kick Muck’,
which was recorded live at 2002’s Pomgmaster’s Ball. Otherwise fans are
likely to have all the material contained on the two discs. Steve Vai and Joe
Satrianni fans will delight in Ed Wynne's guitar style as he covers many
bases musically with his playing.
An excellent way to taste the band’s delights and perfect for chilling
out to.
