ONI LOGAN Stranger In A Foreign Land www.onilogan.com (2006)
Oni Logan, former vocalist with Lynch Mob and the rather good album he released a few years ago with ex-Dio guitarist Rowan Robertson, finally sees his solo album get a full release.
Few name guests on here including Michael Voss (Casanova/Silver), Don Airey, Steve Lukather and vocalist Bekka Bramlett (ex-Fleetwood Mac) who really adds to the tunes she appears on (the duet with Logan on the country tinged 'Blue Jean' a memorable highlight).
It is a mixed musical bag from a few country styled numbers to the title tracks reflective acoustic stylings. 'When Will You Hear Me' is simply wonderful - catchy chorus and a song with radio airplay written all over it.
Don Airey adds his distinctive touch with some good piano and Moog parts. A couple of songs seem to fade into the background lacking any real stand out moments but overall a well accomplished solo outing from a vocalist who certainly deserves more recognition. A real 'grower' of an album.
