NAKED FLAME Animal Love (2006)
Naked Flame are a band with jokes. Top-notch musicianship and hilarious lyrics (apparently). They typically appear on the comedy circuit and use live drums played through an MP3 player, while a skeleton sits at the drum kit. So the million-dollar question is, Baron Knights or Mothers Of Invention?
Stuck Up opens with a sound somewhere between Deep Purple, The Wweet and Hawkwind played through a transistor with a sheep on vocals. Love Like A Rocket is more ‘straight' rock and some competent guitar work , but it didn't have me rolling in the aisles.
Nightmare Love tries to introduce some topical ‘schoolboy' bike-shed humour over a fairly standard rock melody.
And so it goes on - commercial rock, reasonably well played with mildly amusing lyrics. It would probably go down well in a pub / club after a skin full of lager, but frankly Naked Flames need to decide whether they want to concentrate on writing and performing rock, or sharpening their comedy wit. Because at the moment, they're unlikely to win fame or fortune in either camp.

Why should I buy this CD?
|
After a Naked flame gig, so long as you've got enough loose change for a chips and kebab.
Burn baby burn

Not if you've got any sense.
