MOTT THE HOOPLE Family Anthology Angel Air SJPCD196 (2005)
This two CD set gathers together tracks from all over Mott the Hoople’s
history and various offshoots/solo work.
It’s a varied assortment with some tracks certainly for completists only.
Disc One includes some new material including the Ariel Bender Band doing ‘Roll Away The Stone’ which stays true
to the original and Overend Watts ‘She’s Real Gone’. There is a sprinkling
of Mott the Hoople live tracks including ‘All The Way From Memphis’.
Disc Two sees Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott take lead vocals on ‘Leave Me Be’ by Ray
Majors’ plus an unreleased Mott the Hoople track, ‘The Chosen Road’.
There are also tracks by Bad Company, the Rats and MOTT. Definitely worth getting
if you are a Mott the Hoople fan as it forms an interesting and varied
introduction to the music made by former band members and their respective
bands. Very informative sleeve notes with comments by former members of the
band.
