MOONSPELL Memorial SPV(2006)
The eight release by this Portuguese band, who are ever so slightly goth metal! Sadly there are two reasons why I don't like this album.
First up the vocals - I am not a big fan of 'singers' who hide behind growling/gruff vocals and sadly this album features many.
Also there is no variety in Fernando Ribeiro's delivery, which coupled with my second gripe, the frankly irritating fake strings does not endear me to this release one bit!
However, I am always looking for positives and 'Sons of Earth' and 'Sanguine' do warrant repeat plays.
Fans of the band will doubtless enjoy their new offering but if you want to hear quality gothic metal go buy anything by the Sisters of Mercy, Season's End excellent debut album and the excellent recently released Satyrian debut.
