MOLLY HATCHET ‘Greatest Hits Live’ The King Biscuit Flower Hour Archive Series (KBFH Records 40001-2) (2004)
Nothing to do with the current band’s activities, the cash-in live sets continue. No matter, as this is a great live set from a rarely documented era.
Recorded in February 1982, we get treated to 'Beatin’ The Odds' and tracks from ‘Take No Prisoners’, including 'Bloody Reunion', 'Dead Givaway' and 'Lady Luck', the latter featuring a full horns section.
Vocalist Jimmy Farrar is much underrated, and he handles earlier numbers 'Let The Good Times Roll', 'It’s All Over Now' and 'One Man’s Pleasure' well; all great tracks that seem to get overlooked. The early classics are here too. 'Bounty Hunter' and the Allman’s 'Dreams' only wet the appetite for the closing number 'Boogie No More' in it’s full glory. A Southern Rocker’s dream!
