MITCH MALLOY 'Best Of' (2004)
Released just in time for the recent UK acoustic tour, this is a cracking
introduction to Mitch Malloy’s songs. Mitch Malloy sadly hit the music scene
just as grunge was taking over in the early 90’s. But he still managed to
score chart success in the US before his then record label, BMG tried to
change him into a Michael Bolton (who had veered away from his melodic rock
towards sanitised soul music) with the ‘Ceilings & Walls’ album.
Lots to enjoy on here including the better-than-Bon Jovi ‘Cowboy and the
Ballerina’; the blissful melodic rock of ‘Anything At All’ and ‘You Lift
Me’, with a catchy chorus and Mitch Malloy in fine vocal form. There is a
new track on here, ‘Love Misunderstood’ and also a rare acoustic version of
‘Nobody Wins In This War’ (the album version is on here as well), which did
feature on some US promos back in the 90’s. Sadly no ‘Forever’, which I rate
as one of the best AOR/melodic rock tunes ever.
Mitch Malloy is a criminally underrated vocalist and those who witnessed
him in acoustic mode were awe-struck by the man’s voice and songs. A fine
introduction for those wishing to try Mitch Malloy’s work and for fans most
tracks are remastered, plus you get a new song as well. You can order it from - www.rpm4music.com
