LANCE KELTNER (Ulftone Music) 2002
If you like blues rock get this now! This is a sensational album and no
mistake. Lance Keltner handles guitar and vocal duties. Kicking off with
‘Way of My People’, this is a real foot stomper to get things underway -
prime time blues rock.
‘Ride the Wild Horse’ features some great slide and
is very Black Crowes in feel. ‘Dirty Knees’ features a modern drum loop
backing and enters the realm of Southern rock, complete with female backing
vocals and some more tasty slide guitar (if you like Whitesnake’s Micky
Moody’s slide playing you will love this).
‘Welcome Back’ is another uptempo rocker, not unlike Lance Keltner or
Dirty White Boy. Again, the guitar solos are top notch and Lance’s gravelly
type vocals really suit this type of song. ‘Devil and the Deal’ is classic
Whitesnake (ie pre-Vidal Sassoon hair days!), a real smokin’ blues rocker.
Album closer ‘When the Road is Cold’ is an acoustic ballad, with another
drum loop backing and that slide guitar is in there as well!
If you like blues rock era Whitesnake, Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lance Keltner - get hold of this album, it really is
something special!
