KEVIN DuBROW 'In For The Kill' Mascot Records M70972 (2004)
Former Quiet Riot vocalist Kevin Du Brow makes a safe solo debut in that
it is all covers. The backing band are very similar to that of the George
Lynch release with the addition of Great White’s Michael Lardie on keys and
production duties.
The selection of tunes on here all suit DuBrow’s gruff
vocal style, such as Nazareth’s ‘Razamanaz’ and ‘Stay With Me’, the old
Faces classic. A few surprise choices in here like Queen’s ‘Modern Times
Rock ‘N’ Roll’ - originally sung by Queen’s Roger Taylor, who has a gruffer
vocal than Freddie Mercury. There is a Sweet cover but the lesser known
‘Burn On The Flame’ gets the DuBrow treatment on here.
Good fun to listen to but hardly a ‘must have’. Be interesting to see how
DuBrow maps out his solo career from here onwards.
