The new solo album by the former Uriah Heep and Blackfoot keyboard
player. The album starts with a classical piece and then leads into
an all out rock instrumental keyboards and guitars to the fore!
The
album is a mixture of all-out rock tracks like the Heep sounding `Free
Spirit' (which was originally recorded on his early 80's solo album and is
also the name of his new band) and `Let Me Be Me' with its great answer back
chorus. `Tell Me' brings to mind classic era Status Quo - clean riffs and a
sing-a-long chorus. `Movin' In', the old Blackfoot song written by Hensley,
gets another airing and it's one of those songs with a hook that never
leaves your head - classic. There are also some mellower acoustic moments
including `Finney's Tale'.
John Wetton (URIAH HEEP/ASIA) appears on two tracks including the
satire of American life `You've Got It' and also helping out is Dave
Kilminster (JOHN WETTON) who adds some tasty guitar solos and Andy
Pyle (GARY MOORE/WISHBONE ASH) on bass.
A solid album - plenty of variety and some real standout tracks -
`Movin' In', `Free Sprit',`Tell Me'. Fans of Uriah Heep will lap
this up and anyone who enjoys quality rock music should check this out.
