JOSEPH ARTHUR Even Tho CD single, 14th Floor Records (2005)
Taken from the acclaimed album Our Shadows Will Remain, Even Tho is released to coincide with Joseph Arthur’s October UK tour.
US based and originally ‘discovered’ by Peter Gabriel there has been much hype around Arthur’ latest album – much loved by the music press and industry luminaries such as REM and Coldplay alike. But somehow he hasn’t yet connected with the record buying public.
Even Tho is probably the most commercial track on the album, containing the line (and title) ‘our shadows will remain’ – a reference to how Hiroshima survivors described those lost in that act of war. Its guitar based up-tempo adult rock – Arthur’s vocals swooping from a deep Robbie Robertson drawl to falsetto. It’s intelligent, articulate and worms its way into your psyche. Excellent stuff. And if it does no more than make you investigate the album, well that’s mission achieved.
