JIM PETERIK Above The Storm Frontiers (2006)
Ex-Survivor and current Pride of Lions main man returns with an amazing solo album. Peterik is a consummate songwriter on his own merit and again he hits the mark on this album, with the help of some friends including Donnie van Zant of .38 Special.
His first band the Ides of March provide brass and vocal backing to some of the tunes.
'Live Life' gets the album underway in fine style being an up tempo melodic rocker. Peterik is no slouch in the vocal department either and you can now see what a big contribution vocally he made to Survivor during his time with the band.
'The God In You' is one of the best songs from Peterik - great keyboard fills and rousing anthenmic choruses - superb!
'Secrets of A Woman' kicks in hard with a brass opening making for a rousing song that you could see Toto covering.
Of course there are the heartfelt ballads with 'A Kiss to Remember You By' the pick of the bunch.
A great solo outing that takes in parts of Survivor, Ides of March and Pride of Lions adding some other touches to create a varied and enjoyable album.
The good thing in my book is that Peterik didn't just replicate the sound of one of his previous bands but took the best bits and added more.
