JAUGERNAUT Contra Mantra www.jaugernaut.com (2005)
This release arose out of the ashes of pomp rockers Jaugernaut who were active in the 80’s and have since comeback with this new release, albeit only featuring bassist/vocalist Jim Johnston.
This new album follows a more progressive path and certainly has more musical styles and ideas going on than you can shake a stick at!
There are some glorious harks-back to the days of classic pomp such as ‘Anthem’ and ‘The Damage Is Done’, whilst ‘Thru Anarchy’ mixes many musical stylings.
Not an ‘instant’ album and unlike say a band like Styx does not contain any immediate hooks but persevere and there is much to enjoy on this album. More for the existing fans of the band and those after challenging progressive music.
